FIFA 20 Ultimate Scream is approaching ever near, beginning on the 18th of October (6pm GMT) until the 31st October 2019. It is EA’s special promotion that occurs every Halloween period and sees the release of 23 new special cards. Where last year there was also an additional one released through objectives!
What Can We Expect To See?
Last year 21 Scream players were introduced in packs and 2 had their own SBCs (Koke and Schweinsteiger). We predict it will work the same way again this year, which is also why we recommend you to invest heavily in 83/84 rated players from popular nations. As we showed yesterday in our October Investing guide.
How Do The Players Stats/Ratings Change?
As opposed to Team of the Week( TOTW) which produces random increases in players ratings, Ultimate Scream only increases the players rating by 1 rating point. However, the big caveat is that two of the players stats will be 90! These will “shapeshift”, which means they will alternate across the year.
This is a summary of what happened last year:
Ultimate Scream cards were released on the 18th October
- First shapeshift on 26th October – this boosted the 90 stat by 1 point and one attribute shifted
- Second shapeshift on 8th February – this boosted both stats to 93 and shifted one of the attributes again
- Third shapeshift on 15th March – this boosted one stat to 96 and the other to 95
- Fourth and final shapeshift on 14th April – this boosted both stats to 99 and again shifted one attribute
Try to have a look at the players which have the two 90 stats in one attribute that is relevant and another which is not relevant. By relevant we mean an example such as a striker with 90 defending or a player getting a boost in a stat they are already good at. You will see this with the two examples we will look at.
It is likely when the first shape shift happens during the Halloween period their price should see a little bump with biggest rises happening around in December or when the next shape shift occurs (last year in February). There are a couple of great investment opportunities we can look back to in FIFA 19.
Diego Costa - Ultimate Scream - FIFA 19
Diego Costa was released with 90 shooting and physical but still only had 76 pace. As mentioned earlier, since Costa already had 87 physical it also wasn’t that beneficial to have it rise to 90. After the first shapeshift on the 26th October his price started to increase steadily until peaking in December.
Here is a comparison between the original Diego Costa released and the shape shift version on the 26th October 2018:
Have a look at how the price of Ultimate Scream Costa evolved just as time went on. The card came out of packs on the 1st November 2018 and as people starting realising how overpowered his card was his price kept on climbing.
Sergio Busquets - Ultimate Scream - FIFA 19
Sergio Busquets was released with 90 pace and defending but his defending stats were already very strong. Therefore when the first shapeshift occurred, his shooting was boosted to 91 so people realised that they could actually use him offensively as well in a CM role. After the first shapeshift on the 26th October his price increased exponentially until April when the final shapeshift occurred.
Here is a comparison between the original Sergio Busquets released and the shape shift version on the 26th October 2018:
Have a look at how the price of Ultimate Scream Busquets exponentially grew especially until the shapeshift in February. Despite the first shapeshift on the 26th October 2019, Busquets price actually kept dipping until the end of the event (1st Novemeber) where the price started really climbing.
To summarise try to invest in FIFA 20 Scream players that have a stat boosted which is not relevant for their position or in comparison to the players base stat. Looking back to last year, the prices quite dipping until the end of the promotion but if you find the right price before the first shapeshift in October it will be worth picking the player up.
